Airedale TerrierThe Airedale Terrier was registered at AKC in 1959, as Terrier Group. The size of this dog is 22-24 in, and weight is 45-53 pounds. Airedale Terriers have double non-shedding wavy external coat with a smooth inner coat. The size of front face and skull are well in balance. Its body is square in shape and fore legs is very erect. Shape of ears are V-shaped and bended to wall and frontward. Airedale Terriers are normally black and sometime tan in color with few red as well as white marks. Airedale Terrier habitat should be fenced and are good if kept in house. They can live up to 11-14 years. History: Airedale Terrier was initially originated in Great Britain. It is believed that Airedale is a result of cross between Black Terrier, Old English Tan, and the Rough-coated Tan with the Broken-coated Working Terrier and Black Terrier crossed to the Otter Hound. It is considered that the birthplace of the Airedale Terrier was Valley of the Airedale in West Riding, Yorkshire. These dogs are popular, having ability to do any work, as they were given training to retrieve and were broken to guns. Temperament: Airedale Terrier is easy to train, since they very intelligent. But, sometimes they can be stubborn. The temperament of Airedale Terrier is normally very steady. They are excellent watchdog and are suspicious to strangers. The Airedale Terrier usually behaves okay with children, if they were introduced to them in early face of their life and trained for socialization. But, they may become rough to the infants. This dos are very lively, playful and spirited. They behave okay with other pets if grown with them from puppy hood. Health Concerns: The Airedale Terrier is prone to eye problems, hip dysplasia and infection skin infections. Feeding & Exercise: High quality supply of food is recommended for this dog. Research on this dog, unveils that supply of puppy food for too long period, can result the incidence of hip-dysplasia in dogs, which are prone to it. Airedale Terriers requires plenty of
exercise on daily basis, as they very active and physically
